Prepare to be amazed

In case you didn't know, I am not creative, esp when it comes to food. Well this is my moment. check this out. I made this watermelon cake all by myself. Everything you see is watermelon. Yeah, pretty freakn amazing.

Happy Birthday to Jensyn

Look how far we have come :). I swear the first year is a crazy blur, and it is bitter sweet now Jensyn is 1. I just want to hold her and squeeze her and never let her go. What a sweet little girl. We are so lucky to have her with us. If I only knew then what I know now I wouldn't have worried for 9 months, I would have dropped to my knees with thankfulness.

It has been a year

So it has been a year (a couple days over) since I have worked- out side the home. Hmmm. How do you feel about that Jessie? Well, it is super weird. First of all it doesn't seem like a year. And I thought I would miss it a whole lot more.

Things I do miss: the lifeguards and their silliness, the paycheck, feeling like I was making things better (although in hine sight it is all relative), the silly frog suit (as seen here being worn by my favorite co-worker Cathy).

Things I don't miss: Ridiculous reports that go no where, people who don't do their job, complaining (me and other people).

Things that are better: not having to get MJ up, dressed and fed before she is ready, not missing out on silly things the girls do, being able to feel like I have more control over the care for my kids (although this is a catch 22), and the best part- being able to do things with the girls that they really enjoy- the park, the library, museums, projects, making things, swimming.

All and all I couldn't ask for more- ok, well maybe a better paycheck because I am working twice as hard as when I had "a job."

Swimming with Fam

Today we went to the pool for that last time this season (except for Jens party). Clark was able to go. It is sooo much easier when there is someone there to help. MJ got a big kick out of showing off for Clark.

We also met some other fam peeps.

I had a dream

I have crazy dreams. The other night I had a dream that we were with Keith Olberman in SLC. He had picked us up and was taking us somewhere, but he refused to go down town. Very strange and vivid. Analyze that one?!

I am not a Hater, but . . .

I love the Olympics. so awesome, and makes me think despite our president, the world doesn't hate us, and we (the U.S.) do good things. I especially love it when people win the first ever medal for their country. It gives me chills. But I will be happy to not get sucked into watching hours of TV. And I will be happy when the love of my life wont get sucked in too :).

Food or Hat??

Small Miracles

I asked MJ to clean her room in the morning. It was a disaster. of course I thought nothing more, and anticipated a war. To my pleasant surprise she came to me later that day and said "Mom I cleaned my room." I was doubtful, but thought to check it out anyway. This is what I found:

I have never crapped my pants before, but if there were ever a time! I had to take a picture for proof :)

Picture time

Carolyn and I were trying to get a good picture of the babies for the b-day party. It was NOT a success, but we did come up with some other fun pictures.

First Otter Pop

Jens had her first very own Otter Pop- yummmmmmmm. I dunno, I think she liked it.

Chevy's

Benefits of a big family? Sometimes they do really cool things, and invite you to go.

So my cousin Kristen arranged a tour for the kids at Chevy's. It was super. They played with play dough, ate yummy stuff, checked out the kitchen- and all for free.

Swim Party Day

They have a party at the end of swimming lessons. When I worked at the pool I loved it. We got candy - and you can never go wrong when there is candy. It is a bit different as a participant with kids. Mostly because before we just sent the kids on their way, no matter how sticky or messy they were. Now I am the one left with the sticky messy. But it makes for good pictures :).

MJs Song

Tonight we were in the car and MJ said "dameit" which is how MJ says damnit.
Mark: "MJ choose better words"
MJ: "Daddy I am singing the dameit song"
Mark: "How does that song go?"
MJ "dameit dameit heLLO heLLO"

Princess Bike

Last year MJ had a bike-a-thon at her school. She was one of the very few that still had a toddler bike.
On Thursday we saw one craigs list and got it. We cleaned it up a bit, and this was the reaction:

The week run down

So I have been good all week about blogging!! Here is a rundown of the happenings:
Sunday:
Mark and MJ made newspaper hats. MJ loved it-- loved it so much she carried around newspaper all day (not the hat, the newspaper). I went to a . . . memory gathering for my moms friend Willard. He had been in the hospital for a while from complications of a brain tumor. The gathering was at a bar.

Monday:
My super cool cousins had an extra ticket to go to the shark reef. It was pretty cool. Pretty small- and I am glad I didn't have to pay for it. Jens was asleep for most of it. MJ had fun being there with her cousins. I thought she would be a bit more excited about the sharks and crocs because she loves them, but not so much.

Here is what is really interesting about the picture- MJ is 3. There are only 2 kids younger than her in this picture. Yep. The oldest one next to her is 8.

Tuesday:
We are in swimming lessons again. This time Jens and I are doing a class.
MJ thinks her barbie needs to go to lessons too. Except the barbie has lost her swimming suit so she is naked.
One of the best parts of lessons is the nap Jens takes after.

Wednesday:
I would like to think MJ is a princess, but DIVA is more suiting.
She slept with these gloves not once, but twice this week.

Thursday:
MJ has figured out the letter M, and for the first time she has written one- legibly all by her self.
Friday:
My Grandma Kathryn and Grandpa Bob came to visit. Bob and MJ worked on a clock they brought.
Can you see any problems with the first placement?
And of course while I was adjusting the clock, Jens figured out how to stand up.
Cute huh?

Its a love hate relationship

Last weekend was Phishy's Bday. I love and hate this dog. He is excellent for MJ. Just ask her, she will tell you she is the boss of him. And he will do anything she says (yeah, dogs are dumb). But he can be sooooooooooo annoying!!! He barks licks-sheds, and shits. But he is priceless to MJ- and to me the fact that he can keep her occupied for an extended period of time is priceless :)
