Miss Independant

Yesterday Maissie was going to play with her friend up the street. She informed me as soon as she found out she was going that she would walk up there her self. NOT with me. Her friend house is about quarter mile and I wasn't 100% that she new which house it was (all the houses look the same). So I told her she could go, but we would follow her. So she walked about 100 yards in front of us (Jens and I walked with Angus). She kept turning around to check to see where we were. But she made it, and didn't wave good bye or acknowledge we were there :)

Christmas is comming the Goose is getting FAT

Christmas Week was awesome!!
My brothers were all home (they decided to stay home after Gpa Bob’s funeral).
Monday Dec. 22 was the annual Hafen Christmas P A R T Y.

Maissie decided she wanted to sing a solo (Jingle Bells)

Ok, so she got a little stage fright and needed some help, but it was still super cute.
Some how I missed pictures of the trombone song by my Mom, Arthur, Sam and my Dad.

Tues. Dec. 23 we ate at Lindo Michuacan (sp?) only like my favorite place to eat. Then we went to watch the fountains.

Wed. Dec. 24 we had a surprise visit from Auntie Em, Mario, Ben and Oreo who were on their way to Utah.
We ate Tamales YUM, and went to see the lights at Ethel Ms.

Christmas Day was super fun. We got these awesome wiggle/coaster cars. My Grandma Kathryn, Aunt Donna and Uncle Ross came for dinner.

Maissie had a blast opening presents. She didn't care whose name was on the gift, she opened all she could. Jens was mostly observing. Maybe she is thinking of strategies for next year?

After the funeral

After the funeral we went to temple square to freeze our butts off oh see the lights too.

Sam made friends with the bag piper. He takes a good pix.

We just happened to be there on the anniversary of when my dad purposed to my mom at the flag pole. Too sweet. This is them telling the story.

After I could no longer feel my toes we went to eat at a super yummy place- Lamb something or other, but it was GOO-OOD.

Grandpa Bob's Funeral in SLC

We went to Gpa Bob's funeral in SLC on the most snowy weekend EVER!! We left on Thurs. afternoon and luckily had no prob. getting there.

Friday we went to the funeral home. I was so happy everyone cooperated and we were there on time (small miracle). The service was very nice. My parents played a duet, Arthur played the trombone and my mom accompanied him in Ave Maria. I do have to say that Maissie was a little confused about the urn. We told her that we were going to the funeral, and she asked if he would be in a box like Gma Posey. We told her it would be a smaller box (he was cremated) to which she replied "I don't think Grandpa would fit in a small box."

From the time we got the funeral home to the time we left to the cemetery it snowed like 50 feet- ok, so I didn't have a ruler, but it was a lot. So much we had a crapper of a time getting to the cemetery. Poor Mark was driver and slipped all over the place. I really hope I can get a picture from my mom's camera to show how hard it was snowing.

We got stuck trying to get out of the cemetery. About 6 people were pushing the car that was going no where. Finally with Marks mad skills, and help pushing we got out.

After the service we went on an adventure to find good food. We ended up at a Mexican cafe that was super. A big shout out to Los Lemones- they came to the service and were a huge help with the girls.
It was nice to hear stories and memories about Grandpa Bob. We are going to miss him.

Good Bye G. Gpa Bob

My Grandpa Bob was taken off life support today. This picture was taken yesterday in the hospital. His heart and lungs were no longer working and the machines were keeping him alive. He was very coherent, and alert yesterday. It was his decision when and how to turn off the machines.
I am grateful we were able to spend time with him yesterday. I will never be able to eat ice cream, cake or brownies without thinking of him. He always had to get the perfect ratio of ice cream to brownie/cake. If the amount was off, he would keep adding until it was just right. I am relieved to know he will have no more pain, and I hope he is at peace.

Christmas Tree, Sleepy time, Keith and Jack

Mark's parents are so good to us for many reasons. For example, they hunted down a Christmas tree in the Unitas, and brought it to us. MJ was soo excited to put the star on the tree.

MJ has never been a snuggler. We can pretty much remember every time she fell asleep in our arms. And now she is a big 4 year old I thought I wouldn't tally any more she-fell-asleep-in-my-arms times. Until Sat. (12/6) She just came and sat on my lap. I was watching Keith talk about a skit with Jack Black and she just fell asleep. It was a Kodak moment.
